What does this course offer me?
This is a nationally recognised work related qualification, which will look good on your CV. You'll develop knowledge you've already learnt during Levels 1 and 2, so you can become a better technician or move on to other courses.
Tell me about the course in general
You'll build up knowledge in complex vehicle diagnostics and the use of diagnostic equipment.
You will cover these units:
• Diagnose and Rectify Vehicle Engine and Componenet Faults
• Diagnose and Rectify Vehicle Chassis Systems Faults
• Diagnose and Rectify Light Vehicle Transmissions and Driveline System Faults
• Diagnose and Rectify Auxiliary Equipment Electrical Faults.
You may need to pay for specialist materials associated with this course.
What qualifications will I get?
VRQ Level 3 Certificate in Vehicle Diagnosis, Maintenance and Repair (Light Vehicle), plus Functional Skills qualifications in Maths, English and ICT
What can I go on to next?
You can go on to a HNC, HND or the Foundation Degree in Motorsport Engineering or Motorcycle Engineering at the University's Derby Campus.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by carrying out practical assessments in our workshop. To assess your knowledge, you must pass a computer based (GOLA) multiple choice test.
What do I need to join the course?
GCSEs grade A*-C in English, Maths and a science based subject, as well as a relevant Level 2 qualification or experience within the motor industry
