Functional key skills
Improving your English, maths and ICT skills will really help you on your vocational course and help your chances of progressing into work or onto further study.
Your Functional Skills / Key Skills lessons will provide you with the essential knowledge, skills and understanding to manage confidently in life and at work. If you are a full time student at Buxton you'll study for the functional skills qualifications. In a friendly and supportive environment, you'll use your current skills and develop new ones. The assessment is by exam and you'll have lots of practice to make sure that you are successful.
Your Functional Skills teachers will support you with your Functional Skills Learning Plan so that you can both monitor your progress and achieve your qualifications.
All students at Buxton College will take Functional Skills qualifications alongside their vocational course. Functional Skills are about using English, Maths and ICT in everyday situations; you will develop the transferable skills that you need to be successful. As part of your induction you will complete an initial assessment which will inform what level of Functional Skill you will take.
