Students Help Motorists Prepare For Winter Weather
25 November 2011
This time last year the High Peak was experiencing its first flurry of what was to become very heavy snowfall and a harsh winter. So this year, Buxton College Motor Vehicle students helped motorists prepare for whatever weather this winter by holding an advice session on the Buxton Dome forecourt on Friday November 25.
Students and tutors from Buxton College's Motor Vehicle programmes handed out free ice scrapers and gave advice to passing people on how they should get their motor vehicle ready for winter. They also carried out tyre pressure and windscreen wiper checks, and refilled windscreen wash on a number of vehicles.
Andrew Parton, Motor Vehicle Curriculum Co-ordinator, said: "Driving around Buxton and the High Peak during bad winter weather can be difficult and dangerous, so it is incredibly important that vehicles are ready for any extremes.
"Small things like ensuring you have the right equipment in your car or checking that your tyre pressure is accurate could become incredibly important once bad weather sets in, which is why we held this winter advice session.
"The Motor Vehicle students did a fantastic job today and we hope people heeded their advice and have a safe winter on the roads."
