What is the course about?
We will help you to brush up your maths skills and knowledge you need in your everyday life, whether it's money matters, understanding what percentage discounts in shops really mean to your pocket or helping your children with their homework.
Your English course will cover form filling, reading and understanding information leaflets and writing letters. Whatever your starting point and interest is, we provide a supportive and friendly atmosphere where you can gain a national qualification.
All learners have an Initial Assessment with one of our specialist staff to find out what level you are starting from. This helps to identify those things you can already do, and the bits that you need to focus on.
Each class lasts two and a half hours. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere is very different to your memories of school. You'll be learning with a group of people just like you and you can support each other. They will be people you have something in common with from the start - they want to improve these skills too.
You'll be tested when you feel ready, not at a set time of year that might not be right for you. The test you do will depend on exactly which course and level you are on. Passing your assessment will give you even more confidence and you will then have a nationally recognised qualification that can help you get on. Level 1 is equivalent to GCSE grades D-G, Level 2 is equivalent to GCSE grades A-C or Key Skills Level.
