Rikki Abbott-Burgess
Rikki's thoughts on the Foundation Learning programme
Great for my confidence and getting a job
The Foundation Learning course has helped me to build my confidence so that I can get a better job, and accept jobs with more responsibility. I have also been able to build a strong and structured CV which I wouldn't have been able to do before.
Making new friends
I've been on fantastic ice-breaker trips which have also helped me to become more confident, being able to get to know everyone, meet new people and get involved in team work.
Getting involved
I've volunteered on projects to help raise money for charity and raffles. I also helped to cook a meal for Connexions employees as a way of saying thank you.
Taster sessions
The sports taster sessions we're really good and informative, learning about the different types of sport teaching. It was also a useful experience for getting onto higher education courses and really valuable if want to go into a job in that field. In the future I think I'd like to go on to study a sports coaching degree here at Buxton.
Loads of support
The support here is good and always available if you need it.
Facilities and equipment
It's got great all-round facilities with sports equipment, minibuses, computers, library, the bistro and the on-site shop.
What's it like in Buxton
It's lots of fun in Buxton, I've met loads of genuine people and it feels like home.
Overall...
I'd definitely recommend studying this programme at Buxton
