What does this course offer me?

This qualification is made up of one unit that everyone has to take, plus optional units.
Units include:
- Health and Safety (everyone has to take this)
- Engineering Equipment and Materials
- Introduction to Compression Ignition Power Units
- Introduction to Spark Ignition Power Units
- Introduction to Engine Liquid Cooling and Engine Lubrication Systems
- Introduction to Spark Ignition and Compression Ignition Fuel Systems
- Introduction to Vehicle Transmission Systems
- Introduction to Steering and Suspension Systems
- Introduction to Vehicle Braking Systems
- Introduction to Vehicle Wheels and Tyres
- Remove and Replace Vehicle Components
- Diagnose Non-Complex System Faults.
Depending on your ability, you may be able to take more units, which would enhance your qualification.
You may need to pay for specialist materials associated with this course.
What qualifications will I get?
ABC Level 1 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (light vehicle), plus Functional Skills qualifications in Maths, English and ICT
What can I go on to next?
You could move on to VRQ Level 2 or if you have a work placement the NVQ Level 2.
How will I be assessed?
You'll take multiple choice exams at the end of each unit to test your knowledge and you will also have to complete tasks for each unit in our workshop.
